At the same time, Obama remained noncommital on a surtax to pay for the overhaul, which some experts have said could cost over $1 trillion in the next several years to reconstitute and incorporate some 46 million uninsured into the system.
so let me get this straight, we want to spend 1,000,000,000,000 to help 46,000,000. Hmm. So just under $22,000 dollars per person in the est (and exaggerated) 46M uninsured. During a recession.....GENIUS!

Obama has said that people making over $250,000 a year should have to pay more, and he defended his insistence on getting a bill from lawmakers before they leave next month on their summer recess. Asked why he felt so strongly about the timeline, he replied, "because if you don't set a deadline in this town, nothing happens."
Hey hypocrite, didn't you just miss the dates YOU set for both the spending cuts (all 100M of them) and plans for closing GITMO? Yup yah did, so why is it important now to set a deadline?

When they 'slide a mill' into your bank account, and everyone elses, the cost of a gallon of milk would be $1000. A new Chevy Aveo would go for $100,000 and a 3 bedroom house in Kansas would sell for a million.

You could just add a million to everyones accounts (it's all computer money anyway) and put a price freeze on everything, but that wouldn't be a free market economy anymore.

Seems like the Democrats goal is to Bankrupt America and get the people so dependent on Government that Government is the only thing that grows and thus becomes more powerful.

Wow...I just can't fathom a worse scenario and worse system to live under...And I do mean Under.

What's interesting about the so-called uninsured 46 million, is that when you look at the the figures for future years, after a big drop, the uninsured still total around 20 million. Sorry, don't have a source, just read it in the WSJ.

So, I'm confused. If one of the ideas of this plan is to insure the uninsured, why is there still so many that will remain uninsured years and years in to the future?

The more I read about this travesty of a bill, the more sickened I become. Although, I don't want to become too sick, because I'll have to be a part of the "system".

Seriously, the congresspeople themselves won't even commit to putting themselves and families under this plan. If you needed more proof how bad this thing is, you need to look no further.

I don't have the answer but it seems like our current system is in need of improvement.

I'm confident the gubmint can take over healthcare and make it perfect. Much like how perfect the post office is, and the motor vehicle department, and social security, and medicare/medicaid, and the veterans administration, and, you get the idea.

Just a fun little quote:

Quote:
"We appreciate the rhetoric and his willingness to ratchet up the pressure but what most Democrats on the Hill are looking for is for the president to weigh in and make decisions on outstanding issues," the senior Democratic congressional source said.
President Indecisive, wonder if the view is good from the cheap seats....
