E70 Test Drives at Sunfest

Hi everybody and welcome to SunFest...

Who got to drive the black E70 4.8 and what are your thoughts?

I liked the rigidity, the exhaust note, and the new updated nav system. The consensus seemed to be that the E70 really benefits from the running boards as well. The Bert Smith rep said that they expect diesels sometime in September-October.

e70 is a fine ride, no doubt. The ride is a little soft, so Sport is a must.
Its a little bigger also. Handling is there, it is subdued by the softer suspension. Looks better in darker colors. Nice car.

I thought I'd be blown away by the off the line power of the 4.8 as opposed to my 4.4 but I didn't feel it. I like the growl of the engine, and the wider and longer wheel base gives it more stability but it didn't wow me.

For me, unless it's in black, I don't like the looks of it. Too much black already on the bumpers for me but the black paint blends in with it of course.

The 20" "Honeycomb" wheels are nice. I agree with Mike that it was a softer ride than the E53 but the interior is really nice and an improvement on the E53 IMHO.

I agree...no "wow factor" with the 4.8. It handled great, the sport seats were nice, the back-up camera was cool, and I was able to get my ass in the 3rd row seat! Other than that...I wasn't impressed.

the interior is such a nice upgrade from the E53. however, i was left feeling like i drove a nice luxury vehicle, not a BMW. i drove mark's car before the E70, and IMO, that was a beast!
