Sunday Trip up to the NC Mountains??

We can all caravan up to the beautiful NC mountains on Sunday the 23rd. The leaves may be all brown by then... not sure, but it is still a gorgeous area, and a beautiful drive. That's MD's neck of the woods, by the way. Any suggestions, MD??

We can also visit the Biltmore Estate, which is a great place to visit.

Any thoughts on this? MD, what do you think? Who would be willing to do this?

Juan

By the way. I forgot to mention: The Bilmore (well, Asheville) is only 1.5 hours from here.

JK, Good idea, but theCEO & I have to be back in our lil'town by noonish Sunday for a social/chase the ball function, unfortunately.

Nonetheless, I can offer up to the board and anyone interested, some Great 2 lane blacktops to drive to, or through, as a day trip or, while passing through the "longer way home" back to their destinations.

The Biltmore is an entire day event: closer to 2 hrs from you, to get there, get parked and take the shuttle, and on Weekend days, espc. in the fall it is fooking packed. The chance of driving up and getting in, are Slim and none and Slim's on the bus.

But, worth a shot if someone is interested and I think they do "reservations" this time of year. It is a 4 hr tour...and a full day.

I put up some very general Yahoo Maps/roads below, and if anyone is interested in corner carving, contact me as I know Every great road in the far western 6 counties; I do not know of any great roads leading from your loc to "here" however. Not being a smartazz, but the "Piedmont" of Charlotte area is not "the Mtns" by any stretch and it is pushing 3 hrs, one way, to get from Char area to the Mtns & the great 2 lanes here in far western NC.

Jes' my Qtr's worth off the top of me head.
Lettme know if anyone is interested in roads, info, ideas, etc. But, Veronica & I will be hauling azz Sun am, headed for home plate.

Some Links for the curious:

If someone is into rafting, kayaking, this co. on "the Tuck" is very good, by my experience:

And, general map: the meet is jes'South of Charlotte,NC...hit the zoom and come into zoom levels #6 & 5 to get an idea of Asheville area, Waynesville, western NC Mtns, Smoky Mtn National Park, etc. It's only 2.5-3 hrs from the meet, but it is like day and night, compared to Charlotte. Not better or worse, just really different.

That's some stuff for a tired Thursday eve.

Thanks, MD! I appreciate all the input.

Obviously, it's up to everyone. Maybe we can just go karting in Charlotte!
