Came home to several surprises ...

Get home from the meet hungry and tired. Open the curtains to look out the backyard and I see tree limbs and leaves all over the yard. There were cracked opened tree limb parts too - not just dead ones shaken by wind. I'm thinking lightning.

I check the TVs and all okay but one FIOS STB gave video only with no sound - then later no video too! Video on the other but no guide.

My wife asks why aren't we getting any internet access and why my PC doesn't turn on. I get a sickening feeling even more in my stomach. I have four 500 GBs HDD in my system and they're all full. Checked the router and no lights - its dead. No wonder no internet and no programming guide on the STBs. I 'm gettting a new router overnighted by Verizon and will get it tomorrow. Probably need a replacement STB but will try more troubleshooting before it comes to that.

Check my PC. No lights anywhere. Eventually I was able to get a light on the mobo. I think power supply is okay and I just need to find the correct jumpers to do a reset. Obviously, don't know yet if I lost any data.

Of course, my Justin's asthma is acting up and he's got clogged nasal passages. Got him on the nebulizer, benadryl and staying home today. He was throwing up from gagging on his own mucus. Mmmm ... yummy!

Oh, BTW, we all had a good time at the meet!

4 large drives and you're not running a battery backup with surge protection? Try the APC units like the Back UPS ES BE750G. In the meantime I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, as I've been there more than once.

I hear you, but you'll sleep better trust me. Pick one up at Amazon for under $90. Best wishes to Justin as well.
