Replaced Battery - No Start?
 

Hey Lads,

Trying to help my neighbors kid who bought a 323i Project - lol.
Poor kid.

Anyway, he says that when he brought the car home, it would start and run. The battery was low so he decided to buy a new one and swapped it out. Now the car won't start.

According to him (we have only spoken) the lights on the dash come on but it won't hit the starter. Someone had told him that something needed to be reset after a battery swap which I found very odd?

But ok, looking towards the forum here to see what we can do to help this kid out.

Did you try charging the battery before putting it in the car? I purchased a new battery recently and charged it for approx 24 hrs on a battery tender before it was up to a full charge. I know that new batteries should be ready to go off the shelf - but some times they just aren't

Also can you check the alternator?

I think I met this question in somewhere. Did you check the connection? Did you try with other batteries?
