The powerful M-version of BMW’s 3-Series is scheduled for launch next year only. The 3-Series M will be available as coupe, convertible and four door.

For the first time power will come from a V8 powerplant, deriving from the M5 and M6.It is a 4.0 litre engine delivering 415 HP, transmission is a seven speed SMG gearbox. A traditional six speed manual transmission will be offered as an option.

The photos are showing an almost undisguised M3 coupe prototype from all angles on yesterday’s test drive in Munich featuring the large air intakes at the front end, wider fenders and four exhaust pipes. Another year later BMW will launch an M3 convertible and a four door version

rangerfan 06-01-2006 04:02 PM

Don't like it.

RastaGurl 06-01-2006 04:58 PM

Not as agressive looking as the current M3s.

GUINNESS 06-01-2006 05:18 PM

Hmmm... will wait to see in person.

ipacmm 06-01-2006 05:38 PM

the exhaust looks a little small for an M3.

Keep in mind that this is still a test mule and has some cladding to hide the real thing. I am sure when the covers are off the real thing it will be something like this or better with the gills and all the good stuff.

And don't forget the E30 M3 which is probably one of the most affordable (for now) and collectable Bimmers from the past 2 decades. E30, E36, E46 - they are all great rides.

Considering the M3 genealogy, the E92 M3 will be a world class vehicle. It should be one of the most anticipated new car unveilings in quite a while. New version releases of legendary cars are always alot of fun to follow. The last one that really got my attention was the Nissan 350Z.

The autospies pic is actually a photochop by felix of the new 335 coupe to make it look like M3, but he forgot the gills.

Can't wait for this thing to hit the dealerships!!! And FINALLY they are making a 4-door ///M3 again!!! I always loved the E36 M3 Sedan. I almost thought about trading my '95 M3 for an M3 Sedan......

Thanks, LeMans!!!

I had a '97 M3 Sedan - probably the best all-around car I've owned, but I sold it because the techno-violet paint job was too over the top for me. Now I'm thinking about buying another one to use as a commuter car.
