Introducing my E90 330i
 

I finally picked it up today. It had arrived at Port Hueneme on May 30 aboard the Hyojin. It was a high priority car since it was pre-sold and it got to my dealer on June 2nd. It went out for tint that day, back to the dealer on Monday for installation of BMW's OEM Blackline rear lights, and on Tuesday the OEM rear spoiler went on. After a day to let the adhesive cure and a nice wash and wax, it was ready for pick up.

So far I am very, very impressed with the quality, performance, and features of this car. The BT phone is excellent as SuperGreg can tell you since I called him on it. There are so many cool features I can't get into them all, and the truth is, I don't know all about them yet. As an example, the rear PDC now has beeps and a virtual car displayed on the nav screen with a sort of radar behind it that shows exactly where and how big the obstruction is. Trick! Comfort Access is too cool. I don't ever have to put a key in or push a button. All I do is touch the door handle.

I'm getting used to iDrive. I'm not crazy about it but it does allow me to manipulate so many things that I would otherwise have to go to the dealer for. I think those with navless/iDriveless E90's can't do these things. For example, I can go into menus to activate or deactivate DRLs, drive-away door locks, and which doors unlock when the car is unlocked, amongst other features. This car is so advanced, even compared to the E53 which isn't exactly a slouch.

Here are some pictures I snapped today. The rear end is gorgeous with the Blacklines and spoiler. It really changed the way the rear looks. (See the before picture.) Check out the new whip. :D

Congrats! That is my favorite color combo! I love the interior bovine color and wood! To be honest, I'm not feeling those rear lights, but the car sure looks stunning. I'm sure it drives stunning, too! :thumbup:

Looks great Kevin - I love the colors too - exactly what I would have picked. I really like the rear spoiler too - makes it look different that most others on the road. So with comfort access, do you have to put the key in the ignition to start it? Congrats!!!

How much were the taillights and spoiler?

So the sport package now has the chrome trim around the windows? Or is that something other than chrome?

Wow Kev, that is one very handsome car :thumbup: I think the rear spoiler looks perfect, and the tail lights make a HUGE difference. I love that FAT steering wheel too.

Thanks for all the compliments. The pictures really don't do the car justice. The colors look even better in person.

The chrome window trim is what you get with the 330. The 325 gets a matte black trim. Opting for the sport package does not replace the chrome trim with Shadowline trim like on our X5's. I would have loved that! As you can imagine, there are people out there who have replaced the black trim with chrome and chrome for black. If they ever come out with Shadowline on say the M3, I'd love to have that.

The spoiler is really very nice. It and the lights were absolute must-do's for me. Yes, I wouldn't even take delivery until they were installed. The spoiler didn't really fit properly out of the box. This is supposedly quite common. Lots of Betalink adhesive and clamps are required to make it conform to the curve of the trunk.

I haven't driven it much so it's still adapting to my driving style. Plus, I am trying to be good about break-in. So far it's great. The Comfort Access is so cool. It seems like laziness but to be able to unlock the doors by just touching the outside handle and starting the car with only a push of a button is so slick. There are just so many cool little things about the car. I discovered bright white LED's under each exterior door handles that lights up the ground. So cool!

I kind of wish I did the tint darker but I think it's just right. What do you think?

Damn the mods! There are some for a second wave but I really have to cool it. There is a great M Sport steering wheel that looks very nice but I must say that the stock sport steering wheel feels and looks great. I would LOVE to remove the ambers from the headlights but it is nearly impossible. The only solution is a set of Euro clears which cost about $1500. :bawling: New wheels would be nice too but again, the stock ones look pretty good to me. Of course after a year or so, I might be bored of them. Like I said, damn mod bug.

The tails I got at dealer cost which is $175. They can be had for about that price from a couple of different dealers that sell on eBay. The spoiler I also got at cost which was about $250 pre-painted. That is a great deal considering it's painted by BMW. :thumbup: There is an adhesive kit that is recommended and that is a seperate item. My dealer totally hooked me up on the add-ons. I have never referred to them as my "stealer". They're great.

The first time I drove an E90 it was my x, Steven whos a service tech for BMW's 325i with every option and I drove it 100 miles home from picking up his other car (S60R) and I LOVED the 325i, so I decided I had to have one, so I was about to order and bam, the coupe came out and I just fell in Love *grin*

Sorry about the late congrats....been away for about 10 days and finally able to catch up. Congrats on the new 330i!!! Very nice color combo and the spoiler fits well (first time seeing the E90 rear spoiler).

Sounds like you loaded up the car well. The E90 really rides and handles very well especially with your sports package.
