Second thoughts?
Having second thoughts of my order for an e92 coupe in Space Gray. I saw it the other day in person and really liked it when I went to test drive it. However, I thought it was a little darker than I was expecting. It was a little darker than the current Silver Gray on the e46 and e60, but lighter than Sparkling/Sterling Gray. Seems like the official BMW pics were all taken in bright sunlight making it seem lighter.
I'm really starting to like the Montego Blue. Kinda lighter (so it seems) than Interlagos Blue (my dealer had an M5 in the showroom), but a tad darker than Estoril Blue. However, I still haven't seen this color in person (only pics) as its introduction is being delayed till October. Anyone want to chime in on what they feel looks better? As for interior, I chose Black w/ Aluminum trim for the Space Gray, but would probably to come up with something different if I went Montego (possibly gray or creme). Here's a link to Space Gray: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18074 A link to Montego Blue: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18070 |
Judging by the pics, I say blue... but like you said, sometimes colors look different in person than pictures.

Black with red interior, thats the ticket !

I've also decided to put a deposit on the E92 after seeing one in person.
The car is HOT ! I'm going to be going with Space grey though... Montego is nice, but way to purpleish for me (coming from someone who owns a Mystic Blue car...). Montego isn't blueish like estoril or as purple & dark as Interlagos. I'd see it in person. My dealer had Z4's which had the color... |

I like the montego blue. Its slightly lighter than LeMans blue. Closer to Indi blue in Cooper S. Check the color in person. The car looks great in this color.

Very close to LeMans Blue, which is quite possibly my favorite BMW color... next to Alpine of course :D And for all those saying Black/Imola, Alpine/Imola is sooooo much better :nanana: |
Man, go with your first instinct. You will always think the grass is greener on the other side :)

I see montego blue on all 3-series coupe review sites. :dunno:http://www.germancarfans.com/news/20...825.001.1L.jpg

Tough choice! Space Gray is a very nice color and a safe color. It's safe like Titanium Silver but with a little more wow to it. No one will ever say they don't like your color choice and resale will be easier with Space Gray but....
Montego Blue is quite striking. The pics with the masking looks too soft but the other pics LeMans posted look much better. I will say this though: If you get Montego Blue you must butch up the car a little to overcome the slightly more feminine nature of the color. I say this as a guy who used to own a Zenith Blue Boxster which appears to be in the same range of blue as Montego. (See attached.) Some bigger wheels and tints would make it look even better. My E90 color choice was made easier because I ruled out Sparkling Graphite due to its closeness to Steel Gray on my X5 and I had to have Terra leather so that ruled out some colors I thought would look bad with it. I really thought about Monaco Blue but it was so close to black and I didn't think it was as nice looking when paired with Terra. I know, get one of each. :D |

Anyone else seen Montego in person? So far, one person has said that it has a slight hint of purple (which I don't want) kinda like Interlagos. I think a flashy royal blue would stand out and it does in the BMW test drive pics. I'm headed out of town this weekend, so won't be able to see if my dealer has any Montego Z4s around. Didn't really think there were any feminine issues with Montego, but I did get the sport package with staggered wheels :) |
Oh, just get Alpine... problem solved :D

I like the grey. Also safe as Kevin said. Downside is I'm sure it will be a very popular color so there will be many on the road. I guess you need to ask yourself if the novelty will wear off on the blue. If not, go for it.
