Question on hardwiring V1.
I'm planning on getting a V1 sometime soon. I want to hardwire it when I get it. I looked at the instructions on Bimmerfest and on the V1 website. The only question I have regards connecting the wire. After you pick a wire, do you just have to clip the direct-wire power adapter onto one of the "switched" wires? There's no cutting to expose the wire, or anything? This looks like something I could do myself. But if not, would a dealer do it or would I have to take it to a specialty shop?

CJ I have absolutely no skill at this type of thing and I was able to do it with the special clip, it can be done easily with patience. I would suggest you reach around the panel and pop the buttons out instead of prying them. PM me if u have any specific questions. NN |

I'm probably not going to do it until next month, but I'll PM you if I need any help. |
The "special clip" allows the V1 to piggyback onto the hot wire, so that electricity goes to both.
It really is easy. You will be amazed. |
Very simple! No cutting of wires needed, once you identify the switched wire you just tap/clip into it and find a good ground source for the other wire.

Your dealer repair guy
I asked my service tech if he's do it for some cash on the side. $40 later I had an awesome hardwire. On/off with my ignition switch. Well worth the money and THEY pulled the roof liner, not me :) .
