PICS Added - The BMW 335 - What an AMAZING Beast!!!

Wow, I was surprised! I dropped off the M5 at the dealer for regular service and when picking up my loaner car, my SA was walking towards a 335 sedan and then opened the door for me.... I was like, you guys now have a 335 for a loaner? And he replied with a big smile...

Drove the car off and decided not to go home as planned and instead looked for open roads to test the new car which only had 300mi. on it... :wow: what an amazing turbocharged engine, no lag at all.... Another good thing is the Steptronic transmission, it's miles away from the old Steptronic transmissionl. Shifts were crisp and very fast...

Now I wonder how the new V8 M3 will be like...:)

Pics added here...

:iagree: I drove a Steptronic 335i sedan with the paddle shifters. My impression was that this was the first slushbox car I could love.

With such high praise so far it really does make you wonder what the V8 M3 will bring to the table.

Eurosport 12-12-2006 09:18 AM

praise as stock, but easy to mod to or above new M3, with just ecu is crazy
M3 might have to up stock power on that V8, it'll be interesting to see what is up come july/august 07

Wagner 12-12-2006 09:20 AM

I'm imagining we will see quite a few blown 335 motors once people try to mod them.

Where as the V8 + FI would = 335 destruction (of course this is all BS theory since it hasn't been done yet :) )

ncx 12-12-2006 09:23 AM

This is killing me. I MUST go drive this car right away.

You have no idea what you're missing

vinuneuro 12-12-2006 11:37 AM

Once people start modding these things..minorly..they will start blowing away M3s V8 or not. If the history of factory forced induced cars are to be used as any precedent, this too has a very strong engine that can take much more power than what it's got from the factory.

I'd much rather take this car, mod it slightly, save the extra $25-35k and still have the M3 power.

MD and NCX:

Just go drive it. I'm with the others, I was very impressed.

I went back to the dealer this weekend, and reviewed my plan for a new 335 coupe. The plan is Space Gray, with the jade two tone interior (special order with Space Gray), MT, sport, premium, 19", 4 17" winter wheels and tires, PDC, etc. No nav or step, but every other option. Also a 2007 X3si (we get both engines here in the GWN) so that I can still hang out on X5 World. Ti AG over black leather, not so many other options. Thinking about premium, but not sure we want the pano sunroof.

I read some more about the XEDE non-chip, with another 50 hp at the crank, on 93 octane. I figure it will only risk the engine if one actually uses the available power :) . That's my story and I 'm sticking to it.

Anyway, just go drive it.

Jeff

JCL,
I may waddle down to our local foofoo Naples, FL BeamER Stlr
and see if they will allow me; with no X here, to pull into their
parking lot with, and their haughty rep, I'm not sure they will
be accomodating. I gotta dig out my peach alpaca sweater and
Ralph Lauren linen pants...

Glad you are seriously considering pulling the trigger. For me, it
would just be a fun ride, though there is little road room near that
Stlr to fire it up and see what it does...

and, am not in the Mkt for a smallish, very fast car, with no
trunk. Great car, as are all the 3 series, but it would be a fourth
car and I can't justify a 4th of anything at this time.

Jeff, you can drive a tricycle (the pedal variety) and still be an honored member here. You're part of the gang.

Well, it was said tongue in cheek, but I appreciate the sentiment, thanks!

I am in a hotel room just outside Munich, 8340 km from home, and this site is one of the things I keep up with when I travel. It is a great place to belong. It has a way of shrinking distances.

Drove it last week.. It was amazing! I didn't even have a chance to use the power, but the overall advances over the E46 are apparent the second you start it. It's so smooth, the shifter is very crisp, the throws are much shorter.. I loved it.

I see the pics... even in your reply... could be my server acting up...

Go to e90post.com and look at the same car with euro clears. The difference is amazing. Euro's really set the new bangle-gen BMW's off...

That car could also use the sport package. The wheels are so-so and the steering wheel is beurk... Glad its a loaner and that you didn't purchase it..!
