Wow great capability and trick installation. I wish I had that capability with my Eclipse AVN 7000. Have fun with it.

Now, the E70 starting in April 2007 will get the new iPod interface with USB connection/Aux. Supposedly a slightly better interface, but we'll see about that.

Smartie pants! I purposely switched it to perspective view so no street names show. I am afraid that you will stalk me. :scared:

The USB aux input sounds interesting but if it's just another way to connect the iPod in the same way that the 2.5mm auxilliary input works then the only benefit I can imagine is if it gets power from the USB connection. Thus there would be no need for a 12V plug. You'd still have to manipulate the iPod itself though.

ooo...very nice...

so it's tricking the system to thinking it's a cd changer like the dice? i though bmw would create a separate program for the ipod itself...

That's pretty much what it does and that was how it was with the iPodYourBMW interface. That is one reason you can't run a CD changer with it. The major improvement is that each CD number can access a different menu on the iPod as compared to the older iPod interface that required you to create 5 different playlists of CD's 1-5.

I like being able to select an artist or album I want to listen.

Thanks!

No heat problems so far. I thought about potential heat problems but there should be no appreciable difference locating it behind the glove box or in it since there is just a flimsy plastic cover separating the glove box and the rear portion. When it's summer where I live it is triple digits for weeks on end so no matter where an iPod is in the car it will fry so I plan on taking it out of the car if it's to be parked for more than 30 minutes.

Geez, I thought they would have had added street names to the perspective mode on the BMW with I-Drive. On our E46 M3, we got perspective mode as of V26 NAV OS (now I am running V28 NAV OS), but when you go into perspective mode on our NAV, only the highway names and landmark names are shown. I thought they would have improved it with i-Drive NAV system. In fact, it looks like your NAV is not much better than ours. We can search by ZIP codes as well now!

In March or April 2007 production for the E70 will be an available USB hookup in the glovebox. So instead of getting an iPod interface kit, it will now be built-in and yes, you can use the iDrive to control the iPod.
