Okay, so while our M3 got its new shoes and getting washed, we noticed that Crevier BMW got two new 3-series convertible. Our great salesman, Brad Lindenstein got the key for us to test drive them right away!! If you ever need honest, straight-forward sales guy at Crevier, go see Brad!!

The Platinum Bronze/Creme Beige one is 328i with premium package (no sports package), automatic tranny.

The Blue/Creme Beige one is a 335i with premium package/sports package/auto tranny.

My wife like the Platinum Bronze/Creme Beige combo, but we test drove the 335i (nothing like twin-turbo power).

As you can see it is springtime in SoCal....it was perfect day for the convertible test drive. It was on the mid-70s today!

My observation with new 3-series convertible....yes, it is more solid than any other 3-series convertible I remember (and yes I have test-driven all 3-series convertible in its inception back in the late 80's as a E30 325i convertible). It definitely feels heavier than the 335i coupe that I test drove a few months ago. However, the 335i twin-turbo torque engine really got the 'vert moving. My wife noted how smooth the engine and ride was even with the sports package & RFTs. The 3-series convertible was more fun to drive than the 650i convertible we drove last year. With the steel-top up, the car was very solid and quiet and actually I had more headroom than the 335i coupe.

Also, Crevier BMW has a bunch of E70 X5s in stock!

I test drove the 328i convertible at Sonnen yesterday. It was specced the same as the one at crevier...

They didn't mention the 335i convertible I see here. It seems like all dealers are getting two demo's, very nice...

We ordered ours a month ago, the platinum bronze/cream scheme shown in your second photo. Delivery is due some time around May, but we can't get the same tracking down the production line that is available to you guys :( Any hints how we could patch into it, and what details we would need from our dealer to do so?

I see that your models are designated the 335i and the 328i: ours are 335i and 325i.

Any thoughts why the different model numbers?

Be nice, I'm really not up on BMW trivia ;)

More hp. May be more displacement, but not necessarily.

325 E90 was made with 2.5 litre and 3.0 litre engines, in different markets. 3.0 version was detuned. 330 was available not detuned. 328 is the replacement for the 325 in North America, 3.0 litre, detuned less than the 325 but not the same power as the old 330.

BMW has certified different engines in different markets, depending on the emission regulations. Not sure which ones Australia gets. You may have a 3.0 litre 325, or a 2.5 litre 325. Or, the 328 may just not have arrived yet.
