Exactly why I don't like it. Why does BMW feel that all the models lately need to look exactly alike except for the size

noncom23 04-24-2007 03:14 PM

Thats kind of a Ford trait. Saves money for them and bores the hell out of us...

Kewl X5 04-24-2007 03:18 PM

Maybe they are going back to their roots. Originally, BMWs all looked the same except for different sizes/lengths.

There was a famous quote by a German car designer who described BMWs and Mercedes make "the same sausages, but different lengths...."

However, remember, that is someone's rendition and not the official BMW pic. We'll have to wait for another 2 more years to see the real new 7-series.

Its a photochop. This is what AMS thinks. Not what BMW thinks.

Are you sure you're talking about BMW's? :nanana:

:iagree: I can't believe they'd give up the Bangle Butt that easily and ape the E90 that much. Styling doesn't usually flow up from the lower end of the range. I do think though, that they will lower the roofline and have smaller windows a la M-B CLS and even the new S-Class.

I just wish they'd finally fix that stupid looking rear end.

Will they finally move the trunk cut line back on top of the boot rather than on the side????

blondboinsd 04-25-2007 02:35 AM

Psh I don't like it!

The interior

AzNMpower32 05-24-2007 05:52 PM

bmw5, that really looks like a Photochop. I've seen spy footage that looks nothing like a 3-series.

Let's leave the previews and spy shots to LeMansX5........

bmw5 05-25-2007 12:44 AM

I see what you mean.Nevertheless, with all due respect, this is a photo shoot,a picture taken by a camera and it shows the interior,ie the steering ,the dash, and the gear lever.Photoshopping the exterior is understandable but the interior?I would say the interior has camouflage but i dont think is photshopped.

Meiac09 05-26-2007 08:09 AM

That interior looks like a fish trying to breathe. :thumbdown
I was just starting to like the current E65/E66... :bawling:

oh well.

considering that back end was used on the previous version...please...just let the mid bar be tape on the trunk :)

I went to this marketing event where several luxury sedans were shown side by side. There was a Lexus LS460, MBZ S550, the current E65 750Li, and what were apparently the new 7 series short and long wheelbase models. All I can say is that the magazine photo is pretty close to what I saw in person, except for the rear-end. The new ones bear some resemblence to the current 3 series, but you can definitely tell it's a 7 and it looks much more agressive IMO. The interior layout has changed, maybe not all for the better IMO, but still nice. IDrive is still there. I think the MBZ actually has a nicer interior and instrument cluster. Has anyone seen the way MBZ's version of IDrive work? I like how it shows info. in the guage cluster and the cursor function on the steering wheel is cool.

More photoshopped pictures.
