I apologize.

A while back I said I didn't see a M5 wagon in the future, I was VERY wrong.

WHY? Is there really a market for a v10 station wagon?

Wagner 05-13-2007 06:56 AM

I didn't think so, but I guess BMW does. I noticed it in this weeks Roundel and checked it out online.

The only reason would be to challenge the Merc E63 Wagon....but I have never seen one of those on the road.....

Talk about making the kiddies in the back carsick...I can see getting home from Lowes with potting soil bermed up against the windows. This would make me throw rocks at my old V70R...

...M5 wagon, (oh, I forgot; 'touring'), is the answer to a question
that no one has asked. They will sell like...McLarens here in the states.

AzNMpower32 05-13-2007 10:32 AM

I seriously doubt BMW will bring it over. They're already reluctant to bring us the normal 535xiT. Plus, a high-revving, modest-torque, 7-SMG, V10 sport wagon doesn't bode well for hauling stuff.

Oh man, I would bust my guts laughing if I saw/heard a M5 touring racing past me at 7500rpm, tailgate window open with potted flowers and soil spilling out.

LeMansX5 05-13-2007 10:50 AM

Wait till ///M3 touring hits the streets.
Guess that proves you don't read my posts. :saad:

The E-class AMG wagons are actually pretty common where I live, someone in my neighborhood actually has a canary yellow one.

I never understood why station wagons were not popular in the States. In Europe you see sporty station wagons from BMW, Mercedes, Audi or others all the time. Even Jaguar is offering a station Wagon version of the x-type. They combine usefulness and driving pleasure.

Americans have a bad stereotype of sport wagons. We also have huge massive roads and straight highways. We also have cheap gas.

Quicksilver 05-15-2007 01:30 PM

They used to be . But that was before the SUV'. I have always liked the BMW touring and it was on my radar before the X.

I'm looking forward to them! I hope they become avail in the U.S. w/o speical ordering and shipping. I see tons of the Merc E63 Wagons and I think BMW want's to take some of that market (limited but growing).

ljnlaw 05-16-2007 09:11 PM

Another vehicle that won't hit the US shores...I read an article about the M5 touring in last weeks AutoWeek...BMW is going to keep getting their butts kicked by Benz if they don't increase the hp and bring some of these beautiful rides state side.
