The wife and I drove out to Camarillo Tuesday so she could enjoy an Asawadude subsidized shopping spree in celebration of her birthday. I decided to walk over to the food court to get a soda when I came across these 3 black gems in the parking lot. Fortunately, I just happened to have a camera in my pocket...

Too bad this wasn't a couple of months earlier. Anyways, the cars all bore a windshield sticker "Death Valley National Park Car Test Pass."

About an hour after snapping the photos, I was sitting outside the Puma store when 3 European looking chaps strolled out of the Bose store 3 doors away; each going to an M3. They must have seen me taking photos of the cars. They assembled in single file led by the M3 with the black M5 wheels. The pilot of this particular vehicle waved at me and smiled as he drove past. Unfortunately, I had put the camera away in my car, otherwise I would have video recorded their procession.

One thing that I observed - these M3's were eerily quiet, both at idle and when they proceeded past me. No exhaust burble, no lumpy idle, nothing that would indicate a demonized V8 under the hood. Based on sound alone, they could have passed for 328ci's.

But it did make for a very fun shopping day.

Holy hell! :wow: Great scoop Dude! Those Euro boys must have been doing some shopping for black sock, sandals, and shorts to wear at Death Valley. Seriously though, that must have been quite an awesome sight. Did anyone else notice these beasts?

I still think it's funny they debadge the cars when they are so obviously BMW's. :tsk: I wonder if they were Euro spec of US spec.

I actually walked 50 feet past the rear of the coupe with the silver alloy wheels thinking it was just another modded E92 coupe then it struck me that it had a rear valence and quad pipes. Then I remembered, I was in Camarillo, a stone's throw away from BMW's Port Hueneme VDC, so I did a quick about-face and lo and behold, it was new M3 up close and personal.

Without big flares like the E46 M3's, these new E92 M3's look very unassuming which I don't have a problem with. I like sleepers.

These dudes must have come out of the Bose store. Everything else in the general vicinity from where they emerged are kiddy clothing stores. And by the way, Kev, I had on my black socks, black sandals, and black shorts today. Maybe I should have been in one of those M3's... :)
