Proceed and AA tuning for the 335

Is it the same or different? I was flipping through my Roundel yesterday and noticed the Active Autowerk ad for 335 parts including the AA xede tuning, BOV, and exhaust. Josh, I know you have the proceed in your 335i, but I was wondering if there is any difference between that and AA.

Seems like more and more is coming out for the 335... it's pretty exciting.

buschy 08-29-2007 11:26 AM

Who are you talking to?
Yes the xede and the procede are different.

Wagner 08-29-2007 11:27 AM

He is talking to SanGuru.

Seems like there many hats in the modification ring for the 335i ...xcede, juicebox, turbotuner, procede etc. etc.. From what I've read Procede seems to be the way to go - version 2 is just around the corner.

much discussion on forced induction modifications for the 335i here

ah..cause Josh is Sanguru and Josh owns a 335 and Josh did software upgrades...laws of deduction.

kirkX5m 08-29-2007 01:22 PM

procede from vishnu > AA xede

GUINNESS 08-29-2007 01:54 PM

Thanks for all the input. It's an open post for everyone to contribute, but it is also directed to SanGuru for the reasons Wagner pointed out :)

SANguru 08-29-2007 02:15 PM

LOL laws of deduction Ryan.. not everbody can figure that out that's for sure. I'm been very impressed with my procede. I wouldn't swap it out for xede especially given that Shiv is local to me so in case of support. The car runs great and has tons of power.... (of course still not as fast as my F430 but pretty close)

GUINNESS 08-29-2007 02:21 PM

Thanks Josh... and I should NOT have gone to that e90post.com page. I know this is "supposed" to be Nicole's car, but damn. Looking at the posts on that site made me want to hurry up and get it for her. Not to mention I think I'm going to drop a good 10k before she even sees it... procede, harman/motive, dp, intake, wheels... I should probably stop, she won't even be able to handle the car :D

Shiv owns Vishnu, right? And from what I'm reading, Vishnu helped Harman/Motive with their exhaust development?

yup. Don't forget intercoolers and LSD too! haha

GUINNESS 08-29-2007 02:35 PM

AHHHHhhhhhhhhh :D Of course there's nothing like the look of a polished FMIC staring at you from behind the mouth of the M-tech or ACS package :) With everything I'm talking about, LSD is going to be needed, bad, to keep the wheels planted. And what's with all the Vishnu and H/M stuff being coupe only :( Oh, and with all of that, let's not forget a VPD front mounted oil cooler :(

buschy 08-29-2007 04:30 PM

I didnt see that the post said Josh, must have been speed reading.
Josh you should get the LSD that is for sale in the e90 post? eh!

trueX5er 08-29-2007 05:42 PM

Don't forget about Juice Box!

buschy 08-29-2007 08:54 PM

I would stick with procede or the TT(if you want to save money.)

TQ2K 08-29-2007 10:41 PM

Woohoo! More reasons to get a 335!

 what are you talking about?

GUINNESS 08-30-2007 09:54 AM

Juice box??? I would think that's unnecessary if you get Procede.

Josh, what lsd did you go with? Ratio? Lock?

SANguru 08-30-2007 01:14 PM

it's a secret. If I tell you, would have to kill you.. LOL :nanana:

Over the past several months, I've assisted on 2 Procede and 1 Xede installs on friends' 335i's. The guy who bought the Xede met the Hugh brothers on a visit here to LA; he was actually one of the first beta testers of their client install program. The kits and installation procedures are virtually identical, as are the performance gains. All 3 guys have tracked their 335i's at Irwindale, but 1/8 mile times were all over the ballpark because of different trannies, different size wheels and tires, and driver skill. Overall, both kits are of pretty high quality and the support from both Shiv and the Hugh brothers are outstanding. Shiv is ahead of the Hugh brothers in putting out map updates; the Hugh brothers have more engineers and able to respond to map requests and phone support slightly faster. My buddy with the AA Xede 6-MT has the AA BOV and exhaust and has the new AA intercooler on order. 1 of the Procede guys is running SS exhaust, the other is otherwise stock. Both the Procede cars are Steptronics.

Both the Xede and Procede installs are simple, the only difficulty is sorting the wiring and swapping pins. 2 of the installs, we did at night, so doing the work in daylight is advisable. :P The Xede kit had the extra feature of 2 maps (stock and modified) and a valet switch installed in the glove box. Shiv is adding this to his kit in the future, if he hasn't done so already.

I've driven all 3 - they are all putting out good HP, but I can't tell if one product is better than the other in real world results. If anything, I'd say they are virtually identical and the final product selection criteria comes down to price and support. Shiv is probably ahead of the curve because he's been at it longer and has been putting out better maps, but the Hugh brothers are very close behind.

The Turbo Tuner was considered as an option, but Vishnu and AA products were picked because their well-established experience and reputations. Juicebox was not around at the time, but in following the E90post.com threads, that's not a product I'd want.

Bottom line - IMHO Xede and Procede are both good products and I wouldn't hesitate to purchase either one.

Any news on when Procede V2 will be out - curious what that will add.

Only concerns I guess I have is invalidating the warranty -probably get around this by taking it out anytime you go to dealership. Wondering how the transmission will hold up over time to the extra TQ or maybe I am reading too much of the neg. propaganda.

But I agree with all on here that the numbers looks awesome for both and it look like it is the # 1 must have option

Great info, thanks. I guess the Hugh brothers are AA? This will eventually be a very fun tuning experience and I'm really hoping to be very hands on with it. Maybe Nicole will join me... or just watch and hand me what I need :)

As for the Juicebox, I thought it sounded familiar when mentioned in the above post and you just confirmed my suspisions. Yeah, reading a little on e90post, definitely not a product I would want or a person I would support.
