Finally got the 335XI
So I purchesed the 335XI yesterday and will be picking it up on tuesday or wendsday. I traded in my 2004 X5 for it.
The 3 is graphite metalic on black with auto trans since this is my wifes car. Sorry no pics but i will take some when I pick it up. So now I have a wheel question. Im looking to put bigger wheels on it. I found replica M6 wheels in 18X8 from finishlinewheels.com Lug Pattern: 5 x 120mm but no offset is listed. Does anyone know if that is the right lug pattern and what the oem offset is on the XI3. Is the offset for the AWD 3 different from the RWD 3. Another thing im worried about is the center bore size. Lastly what size tire should I put on a 18X8 wheel Does anyone know a place where I can get all of this info. Thanks in advance |
Congrats!!! Post pics when you get it

Congrats, check E90post for all of your wheel and tire questions!!!

The E90 328xi offset is ET37 F/R non-stagger or ET34F/ET37R staggered. BMW OEM fitment for the 328xi sports package with optional staggered wheels is:
F: 18 x 8.0, 225/40R-18 R: 18 x 8.5, 255/35R-18 I've seen nothing published for the 335xi, but I assume it is the same. You will find better answers on a forum specific to your car model (i.e. E90post.com). |

I belive those will fit, but if your going to upgrade do it right.

Congrats Tony! Sounds like a nice color combo.
|
check out modbargains.com for the m6 reps. they have a bunch of different offsets and where most of the e90 folks get theirs.
|
Nice, get pics up. I'm would be curious to see how much slower the 335 with XDrive is compared to a rear wheel drive 335.....

Why do you want some cheap replicas? Put some OEM or HREs or other good brand. |

First off, congrats on the new ride. Secondly, the M6 replicas are crappy rims to put on such a nice car. It exposes a lot of the brakes (rotors & calipers). It looks horrible if you are not doing a big brake upgrade. Do something nice and classy like the Hartge Classic II or even the E60 M5 19's. Enjoy.

Dude there are some pretty good deals in teh e90 post wheel and tire for sale treads right now, I would chekc it out and stay away from the reps. THere is a sweet set of iforged drifts for sale right now and I think you could get the dude to go lower on the price too. probably less then $3k with the tires./

btw congrats dude... the xi due to better traction will be faster than the all wheel drive setup especially in a 0-60 or 1/4 mile run. The handling might be a little worse due to the weight but it all evens out. |

that's going to be a PITA to clean!!!

Check these out. What do you guys think of the wheels and tail lights. I think im gonna get the carbon fiber front lips too.
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58144 Thanks for all the help and info everyone. I am going try out E90post and try to find some deals there. I realize now that the M6 reps will make the brakes look tiny so those are out now. I am now considering the M5 reps. I like them alot and they cover the brakes better. But they do look like an incredible pain in the ass to clean. And since its my wifes car she just goes through the car wash with it. They will be looking like shit in no time. Im gonna look on E90post and see what some of those guys are doing with wheels to get some ideas. Do you guys think I should go for 19s or stick with 18s? I also def want a staggered setup. My biggest worries are getting the correct offset and making sure the wheels work with allwheel drive. I definately dont want any rubbing. The 17s i have now look tiny and stick in alot in the back. That rear wheel arch looks empty. I didnt get the sport package. But I think the sport XI comes with 17s also anyway. My buddy has an EVO and he told me that its hard to find wheels that fit an allwheel drive car correctly and that rear wheel drive car wheels dont fit awd cars. I know its true for the EVO but is this true for the 335XI also. I just dont want to buy something that doesnt fit right. Thanks again for all the info so far and I should be picking up the car in the middle of next week sometime. I will post pics then. P.S. I also want to get the black line clear rear tail lights. Does anyone here have them on a 335 4 door if so where did you get them? By the way Sanguru do you have a 4 door or 2 door. I forgot. And did you get the clear rear lights? |

My tail
I went with 19's and looks great, handles great( no suspension yet) I would guess if your goiong to track the car a lot you probably want some light 18's, there are some csl's for sale on e90, I beleive. |

Did you get run flats with the 19s. I dont want the run flats but since there is no spare and its my wifes car i dont want her to get stranded somewhere. By the way where did you get the black line tail lights |

I went to tire rack and they only have one tire a bridgestone available in that size in run flats. They are back ordered until october. I think my biggest problem is gonna be finding a tire |
congrats

I have umm 245.35.19 and 275.30.19, I believe off the top of my head.
I got the black lines form morristown bmw, they are cheaper then anywhere. also check out tischner BMW too. I do not have runflats. kinda nervous but thats what bmw assist if for I guess. The ride is harsh I guess but not any different then it was with the 18's RFT. hope this helps |
Tony,
as I have 19" on my E90 for the summer and 18" in the winter I figured I'd chime in :) .... If you go with 19" be aware that you won't have much rubber on your rims, the sidewalls are going to be very thin ! On NE roads this can be a challenge, I already bent two wheels (no visible damage just annoying vibration, ended up buying two new wheels) and that's without even hitting a pothole hard. I have the Hartge Classic 2 which so far have held up pretty well. I'd only recommend 19" for someone who's willing to avoid potholes/dips at all costs as otherwise it will be an expensive exercise ... On my winter wheels (OEM Sportwheels (162) powder coated black) I have 18" RFT winter tires (Dunlop) and I've been pretty happy so far, also been driving the Bridgestone RFT the first 2000 miles without any major complainst (however there's a customer complaint notice where you can get your Bridgestone RFT replaced with Conti RFTs (but you have to complain about roadnoise first ....)) . - Jan |
Jan,
Thanks for the info. Reading that made me to decide to go with 18s for sure. The reason being this is my wifes car and she does not look out for potholes. So its probably a nightmare waiting to happen. I am definately going with runflats because i want to make sure my wife doesnt get stranded somewhere. If it was for myself I would probably go without the runflats. I didnt know about the bridgestone problem where you can get contis for free. So when choosing a tire what should i go with. the only tire i saw on tire rack was the bridgestone RFTs. And they are on backorder. What else can i buy and where can i get them. Im looking for 225-40-18 and 255-35-18 Im going with the 18X8 and 18X9 ET38 / M5 replica wheels They weight 25 and 26 pounds which i think is pretty light. What do you guys think? By the way Jan how does the 330 XI handle in the snow. I dont have the sport pkg so my car came with 17in all seasons. Do you think those will be good enough or should i go with 17 snow tires? Im curious to see if the 335 XI is better in the snow than my X5 Quote:
