1-series US pricing anounced
 

11/14/2007 - LA Auto Show - BMW announced pricing for the 2008 1 Series Coupe this afternoon at the 2007 LA Auto Show. When the coupe hits dealerships in the spring of '08, expect the 128i to start at $29,375 and 135i at $35,675. Tom Purves, chairman and CEO of BMW also announced that a 1 Series convertible will be shown at the Detroit auto show.

Purves, with the new M3 sedan and coupe in the background, ended the presentation by revealing that the concept BMW CS will be built. And it will slate into the family tree just above the 7 Series.

And your new entry level Bimmer hits the ground running a little higher then a Accord/Camry. I hope if BMW plans to run in those parts of the forest that they get there reliability up a notch or two.....people generally shopping in that bracket are imagining 50-100K without interruption ;)

And they will sell like crazy, kids will be getting them when they turn 16...they will be all over the place.

Yup, they will easier to find than a cab in Boston - 250,000 students, many with money. Nice off-to-college present of a starter bimmer.

I grew up driving my brothers' 1600 and 2002 and the 135i is sure to be a hell of a lot more fun to drive than those!

pricey options IMO but not a deterrent as far as im concerned! vive the ONE!

why would anyone spend so much for a 1 series when a 3 is about the same price.

hell, a fully equipped 528i is about 53K msrp, with discount, 48K..

why then configure a 1 to 41K?

LM! hopefully my SA can take a car out of allocation and get me in....we will see what pricing is. im picking up a 335 also so no matter there's $$$ saved. another thing im hanging on is whether or not lemon leather will be available for the 1, do u know anything about that?

I am #1 on list but still having thoughts about tii. I have the details sheets at home so will check for lemon leather.

Kirk, Your dealer did not give you the brochure with all colors and options?

no billy didnt, we were too caught up talking about his diabetes as i have diabetes too, and when he told me he couldnt do anything til he gets his allocation next month i left in tears LOL. let me know what u find out about lemon leather! i hear europe gets it but we don't, thats really stupid imo!

The 1-series has never been much cheaper to make or sell than the 3-series. Think about it too; you're getting the same engine, similar gearbox, and same standard equipment. The body is smaller, but not much smaller. As a result, the price tag is also smaller, but not much smaller.

If BMW sold a 120d coupe with "European standard equipment", then the price tag would be more like $25k to start. But then it'd jeopardize Mini sales, and BMW would become the laughingstock of the luxury car industry by charging extra for an electric sunroof or cupholders.

C'mon folks. BMW wants to be a premium marque.

BMW has always charged extra for electric sunroof on all their cars. Even when you get the premium package, that sunroof isn't "free".

Lemon is awesome, saw it somewhere on a E90 or E92.... Lemon FTMFW :thumbup:

Personally, I think there should be an option for the 1 series for sunroof delete, cloth/alcantera seats, etc.... just a real stripped down enthusiast version.

$48k+ for a 1-series, and its still a 135i only. Better get an M3.

All I can say is that you guys are nuts paying 50G+ (out the door) for a 1-series :nanana:

A 135i will depreciate a lot more than a ///M3(which comes std. with lot of stuff). Options are depreciated right out of the dealer lot.;)

Yeah I know i posted my fake build at the start of this thread, and seriously no hijack but in the midst of all of this where will the Diesel fit in price wise?

The 135 is going to be one of the best BMW's in recent history. Yeah it is a little pricey, but it is a BMW right? The beauty is that you can get a 135 with the sport package out the door for just at or under $40k. That is really all most people will want in this car. Most people aren't going to configure this car to be some sort of luxury cruiser. Close to M3 performance for $20-$30k less. What's wrong with that? Sure, these things will be everywhere, but BMW are allready everywhere. I remember in the late 80's when my step-dad bought a 325e passing BMW's would actually give him a wave, not these days. Everyone and their brother has a 3 series or 5 series.

drex, comparing a 135 to a 528 is not really fair as they are totally different cars. The 135 will run rings around the 528. I highly doubt most people in the market for a 135 will consider the 528 or vice versa.

If you don't want to pay $40+ for one, wait a year or two and pick one up on warranty with everything you want for $35k
