540i vs M5
I have a 2003 bmw 540i sport, and I want to replace the current cluster for a M5 cluster of the same year or 02, do I will need coding or anything major? will it work? I mean all the gauges and buttons? thank you:dunno::drunk:
Hmm, I would think that should work assuming all the same gauges are used. Honestly though, why would you want to do that? :dunno:
The M clusters have an oil temp gauge where the real-time mpg gauge is in your 540. Don't think that part of the cluster would be functional. I do agree with Wagner though, why bother.

The 540 doesn't have an oil temp gauge? That bites. That is why I asked if all the gauges were the same.
Pretty sure they don't. Did your 545 have one?
Don't believe so.
I want to do that because they look better than my OEM cluster

I think someone asked about retrofitting the M3 cluster into a 330ci, and I think some recalibration was required. |
Warm-up lights will not function properly, oil temp instead of mpg will not work, higher rpm on M5... more money than it's worth if you ask me. Try looking around to replace the gauge faces with something you like instead of replacing with an M5 cluster.
