saw the new 750 in person ...... WOW
 

so ...... i'm totally stunned. I didn't care for the new 750 when i saw it in photos. reminded me too much of a toyota/lexus from the rear, and overall just looked too "soft" and "squishy" in a somewhat japanese way generally.

well i finlaly saw a black and silve one in person at the local dealer, and all i can say is WOW: it just ooooooooooooooozes sophistication and elegance and class, and looks absolutely STUNNING.

I saw a black one at my local auto show recently. From some angles it looks pretty good, but the front is unimpressive. They kidney grills are way too big. Overall, it was nice, but a little boring, IMO.

Agreed. I like the nose from the '08 better, although the rest of the '09 is an improvement.

Isringhausen has one. This one looks much better in person, but you can see how big the kidney grills are.

I have seen a lot of them here in Saudi Arabia ... last week a guy was washing his 750iL beside my car and I had the chance to talk to him and check it from inside ... it is WOW !!

My neighbor recently purchased one...definitely a major difference from the pics i've seen.

Where I live here also there are plenty of them, the first one I saw was black 750i and it really shocked me!

also the white one is great :)

They look great but are so big and expensive.

I bet the the new 5 will have most of the benefits and will be a more reasonable size and price.

More reasonable to who? BMW (like all car companies) tries to cater to a wide audience. Minis on the low end, Rolls Royces on the upper end, 3, 5, 7 in the middle. The 7 might seem big and expensive to some, but I assure you the person who owns the RR Phantom probably does not think so.

I think it still looks like a Lexus.

It's sad that the new F01 breaks no new ground from a design standpoint. From the back and sides, it looks so much like a Lexus LS, it might as well be a Lexus. And from the front, the oversized kidney grill looks just plain ugly IMHO.

BMW flagship cars should be statement vehicles. Even though the prior E65 design was polarizing, there was no mistaking what it was. It was a game-changer, causing the competitors to rethink their body designs. Over time, some of the E65 styling cues began to appear on many other vehicles.

That being said, I drove the F01 a couple of weeks back when they arrived at the dealership. It's a fine vehicle, much more well sorted out than the E65. The new iDrive does not suck, and the shifter is back on the console where it belongs. Performance and handling is very impressive.

But the dealership also had a CPO '07 B7 parked next to the F01. For $40K cheaper, I'd pick the B7 in a heartbeat.
