335i Xdrive AC problem HELP!

We were returning from a long trip yesterday, from SC to VA, with the AC running and set to 68 degrees F. After driving for about 4 hours the cabin began to heat up, I noticed there was very little air coming out of the dash vents, fan speed was set to 5 bars, air was luke warm. I started playing with the AC controls to no avail. I called the stealer while driving and this is what they had to say. The 335i Xdrive AC system is prone to coil freeze ups and as such, they recommend turning off the AC for about 10 minutes for the coil to thaw out, then turn it back on. I did all that and sure enough the AC was cooling properly once again. The problem I have is paying $56K for a BMW 3 series luxury sedan and having to go through these gyrations to cool the cabin. It just doesn't sound right to me. I've been driving BMWs all my life and never had an issue like this one before. Is anyone else experiencing this same problem?
