New 7 series is good looking in person

Yesterday after lunch I stopped by a local BMW dealer with a friend to check out what they had. Driving up I saw a '11 750iL Xdrive in carbon black with the M package.

I'm really impressed with the way it looks, the new lines across the top belt are great looking. I can see that car on my list some day for sure.

Anyone own or driven one?

M package makes a huge difference, imo.

I agree but I was surprised that the tires were only 275s in the rear, I would have thought that they were going to be wider with the M package. The wheels however were great looking.

I don't like the M sportpaket on the 7er. It's supposed to be a comfortable cruiser and I don't like how the M aerodynamic kit looks on the 7er.

I need to look at them side by side to see what your talking about. There are only a few cars that I dig the bright chrome around the windows on, the Msport doesn't and that's one of the draws for me. Do you think the ride quality is diminished with the Msport on the 7? I don't know.

The M sportpaket includes the Dynamic Drive, but I don't perceive 19" low-profile wheels riding better than an 18" wheel.

Yeah, true about the 19s potentially not riding as nice as 18s. Went out on Cars.com yesterday for kicks looking at 760s and 750iLs. There are some really good deals on '08 750iLs out there, low $40ks. 750s with the 4.8 litre engines and I guess '09s started with the 4.4 twin turbos. The 760s are considerably higher on the new cars and I'd be wary of them in earlier years due to maintenance costs and those cars had the I Drives with the bad rap.

If I ever went for one I'd want to stay away from the earlier generation of I Drives from the sound of it. Next I want to investigate those systems and understand which years came with what generations. The press has been pretty positive about the most recent I Drive.

The E65 is rubbish and best forgotten. The interior lacks design and doesn't "feel" nearly as luxurious even as the F10 5er. The first-gen iDrive is unfathomable and slow.

Naturally the depreciation and maintenance on these cars are high.

I'm not yet familiar with the internal model designations. I take it you have owned one before though?
