new pad recommendation
My 2004 x5 is out of warranty now and I'd like to replace my brake pads. There are OEM and many other choices including ceramic, semi-metalic, and organic. Can I get a recommendation for what pads work well on this car?
Of the three types above what are the OEM pads? and, I'd like to mention that I'm not planning on changing the rotors this timie around. The car has 50K miles and the rotors are original and while not in perfect condition due to a very small lip, they are smooth. Any comments about this? thank you, DM |
I just read my post and it sounded unclear. I'm out of warranty now and the pads need chaning and that's why I'm going to change the pads.
I just remembered my last question. How many sensors are there? One in each wheel for a total for four? thanks again, dim |
Two sensors. One on a front wheel and one on a rear (cant remember which side they are on off the top of my head). I would recommend Axxis pads (either Delux or XBG). Many people here run Axxis Delux pads. I run the XBG's and have been very happy.
I would also recommend changing the rotors as well with that many miles on the originals. That is a a decent amount of miles on the front rotors especially. Here are a few links to get you started. The first is Dave Z. He is pretty popular here. BMW X5 Products - StopTech big brake kits, pads, tires http://www.axxisbrakes.com/ Good luck! |
We have a selection of pads available that can be found here on our website (please confirm model):

Yes, that is correct.

I used the Centric Posi Quiet Ceramic pads from zeckhausen racing and the pads are great. I used the same rotors front and rear and there are no problems. I have about 50K on the car now. Next time I'll change the rotors on the front.
thanks for the help. Dom |
How about pads with the least amount of dust?
|
The ones I mentioned seem to have little dust and they are quiet. I'm very happy with them. Try them and then post your thoughts.
