I could endorse our checks and send them to you and R, but I suspect you don't really need the dough, either. ;) Maybe new tires for that 7 series of yours?! As Retiredbums, we slipped under the reduced bracket, so we get the $1200 each... Not a socialist, but I still think many of us retired/very comfortable people wouldn't miss it vs the woikin' class that are hoping to keep the mort/rent paid and the wolf from their door. GL, mD |
Yep, That'll help

Got our CARES Act debit card in the mail a week ago...
I almost tossed it as it looked like one of those occasional 'sign up for this new CC' junk mail promos we receive, that have a 'card' inside that says John Doe, et al. The debit card had my first name on it with a bastardization of my wife's last name, and her full name below my incorrect name. Fired it up on the phone in activation system, (it didn't matter that my name was 'wrong'), and we have been using it at grocery stores, et al. We got the full $2400, based on being under the earnings ceiling, as we are RetiredBums. Nice dough to use, but most/all of our friends esp the retired ones, really didn't 'need' that money vs many younger families in the US struggling to get by, which could have used more, imo. Then, a letter from Trump talking up the CC or direct deposit, as if he was personally digging into his checking account/authoring the Act, to send this pittance to the struggling people of the US...what a typical narcissistic shameful use of his self anointed authority and his all consuming ego. Neither of our Kidz/spouses got any dough, but they are all employed/doing well/happy families, which for a parent is about all we can hope for... GL, mD |

Wish they would have opened the spigot a little more to the populous. They had firehoses going for big business, garden hoses for small business, and squirt guns for the rest of us. I would have much preferred everyone get $1000/mo for 6 months (or something like that to benefit the entire country) vs. the $600/wk unemployment stipend. I'm sure that money is welcomed by those not working but many are abusing it (I have family doing so) and it doesn't help those who have remained employed but are affected in other ways. As you say, the money they returned to the public was a pittance. |
I want another round of the $2400.00 Payout. Will I get it?
I really do agree with motordavid but I won't fight it if they give it. |
^ We haven't quite used our CARES debit card $2400 up, yet...my CEO is in charge of using it when she chooses to.
Do we need another round of this? NFW, but I won't throw it in the trash if we get it. We have been using a good portion of the first batch of dough to buy stuff for the two or three very local charities that work closely with helping local people here in our western NC rural county to try and get back on their feet. No 'white guilt' or 'well off Boomer guilt', as we have been involved with a few key charities since we got here 20 yrs ago, from metro NY. We feel our involvement and support helps some people, and we don't 'miss' the money. There are many that need that gov't payout/'support', esp during these wacko times; we do not and I wish there was a better metric for a pivot point of who gets it, but it is our 'government@ work'. Well, we could use it. Not from a "breadline" standpoint, but a comfort one. We've outlayed more $$$ lately getting ready to homeschool our kids (curriculum, desk/office build, PC build, etc). So another $3400 would go along way here to help replenish the savings accounts. Can't wait for our refi to close as it will free up a bunch of monthly cash and we'll be able to kick the CC companies to the curb.
As you guys said, we don't NEED it, but it's not going in the trash can when/if it comes. |
