Obama stumbles during oath..

So everyone who watched yesterday saw Pres stumble during the oath. Well here is how the media in DC is playing that out:

"..as you can see Obama remained calm and waited for the chief justice to get back on track with the oath.."

"..Obama kept a cool head while the chief justice tripped over the oath.."

:wtf:

See it the way you want I guess

The chief justice did transpose the words..the fact that the President caught it under so much pressure is pretty amazing imo.

Well, Lets see. Here is the Oath as it appears in Article II, Section I of the U.S. Constitution:

Quote:

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."
Here is what was said:

Quote:

"I, Barack Hussein Obama, do solemnly swear that I will execute the office of president of the United States faithfully, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the constitution of the United States. "So help me God."
As specified in the US Constitution, the word "faithfully" precedes the phrase "execute the office," but the chief justice, in his first presidential inauguration, read that part of the oath incorrectly.
Obama paused, apparently realizing something was wrong, and after an awkward moment Roberts repeated himself, but the chief justice stumbled again. Obama eventually recited the line as Roberts originally said it.

Krimson, um...yeah..not questioning the text...

Here ya go:

CJ - "I Barack Hussein Obama, do solemnly swear"
BO - <cuts in> "I Barack Hussein Obama..."
CJ - "..do solemnly swear.."
BO - "do solemnly swear.."

Have judged, the above is correct. Obama tripped up...but nobody focused on that, instead focusing on the CJ ;) That was my point.

Yes, President Obama got ahead of himself on the first stanza, and it was also pointed out. (At least on CNN). I've been sworn in to a few positions before and have stepped over the person issuing the oath after saying my name. Same thing happened to me while reciting my wedding vows. It depends on what cadence the deliverer of the oath chooses.

OK Wags...I'm super critical of the guy and I'm giving him a pass on this one. I can't even begin to imagine how many people in the US were listening let alone all over the world. I'm pretty good at speaking in front of an audience but heck...With that amount of focus on every word by that many people I would have swallowed my tongue on stage.

It's now the next morning and the celebration is over. Let's what he does when his hands get dirty.

No no, there is an open house today followed by a party tonight. "...after that its the after party, and after the party its the hotel lobby..."

He already got dirty, suspended all GITMO moves for 120 days and notified government agencies that any last minute Bush moves were paused until review. Go Government :)

Gitmo is easy...Just order our troops to gun down all insurgents in th next 120 days who show any armed resistance. This removes any need for Gitmo for the next 120 days. :p:

As for the parties...I should have known better.

Frankly, I wouldn't be shocked if he works that into a deal to open relations with Cuba by removing that base. I'd...actually...be...for...that :)
