U.S. Seeks Expanded Power to Seize Firms

Great...

The Obama administration is considering asking Congress to give the Treasury secretary unprecedented powers to initiate the seizure of non-bank financial companies, such as large insurers, investment firms and hedge funds, whose collapse would damage the broader economy, according to an administration document.

I'm convinced part of Obama's agenda is to degrade the dollar and Capitalism to a point at which Socialist ideals seem the only feasible path. The central bank of China yesterday asked to formally leave the USD standard and create a global currency because they fear the spending in the US.

Seriously, this sort of looks like intent disguised as ineptitude.

Now they have also created a "tax group" to review the entire US tax code. TRY A FLAT TAX! You would almost guarantee larger revenue by limiting to almost null deductions. While at the same time lessening the % almost EVERYONE pays.

I'm for it. If you don't spend, you save. That of course goes against the "let's spend our way out of problems" concept we have already wholly adopted.

Careful, don't confuse flat tax with federal sales tax ;)

Well, you have to believe some of that would get shifted to a consumption based plan. I did not mean to imply they were the same. But owing to this charity deduction thing, I don't think they would pass up any opportunities to collect more of our money.
