What Bush has been up to
 

I usually don't post in the political section, mostly because I don't give a rats a... about peoples opinions, or their opinions of my opinions :)

However, I stumpled upon this article from newsweek (was linked on MSN) about what Bush has been up to.

I liked Bush - I think he did a very good job, which I know is not the popular stance so I found it encouraging to read a lighthearted and cordial article about his post-precidency days.

Thanks for posting that. He is clearly a decent man, who is trying to make a bit of a positive impact on kids. I hope he finds comfort and contentment in his retirement.

Yeah he is in the Preston Hollow area in Dallas--very exclusive neighborhood. Good article on him.

Don't be so hard on the Bush! We all know it was Cheney running the show. Funny that he wasn't allowed to speak during the 8 years he was VP, but now he's on every TV channel!

You mean every single way that involves gay rights correct??? Your tunnel vision prevents seeing the good things he has done. You couldn't care less about anything except your perceived "rights" and denounce/ignore all other positives. I'm hoping this president makes you feel better. :stickpoke

His tunnel vision? Old rich white men can go thier entire lives without feeling the pain of discrimination even one time. Can you imagine if someone could legally tell you NO YOU CANNOT DO THAT because of the color of your skin, a disability, or your gender? This is why Sotomayor made her statement. If you've never had it happen, you should not judge how others can or should feel about it. Gay rights will eventually be exactly like womens rights. They had to fight for a long time too.

Back to the topic. Yes, Bush was not a good president. Look at the books that have been written about him, by his OWN TRUSTED people who jumped ship. Why did they? Easy. Bush was not one to listen to his teams opinions. My way or the highway. In my opinion, not a characteristic of a good leader.

Colin Powell should have written a book too, but he knows his political future will be better if he is not seen as a person who 'kisses and tells'.
