Colin Powell.... I have a prediction

He's going to be the Republican nominee in the next election.

Just putting it in writing. Check back in 3 years.

Pretty good dart toss, G...
I like his arm wrestle with DrDoom and RushTheMouth.
The only slight leakage is that he is my age, 62.
Not that that is too old, in 3 years.
BR,mD

PS: Now, we just need about a third less House and a whole
new Senate, and they will still spend more than we can send them.

He's been surfacing a lot lately on the morning political shows, talking about uniting the party etc. ...

Imagine the next election, 2 black men running against each other.

People will go into brain lock trying to figure out what to do. :)

How can he run against Obama in 2012, when he endorsed him this time?

Anyway, I disagree with your premise. I believe the Republican party will actually have a resurgence of conservatism, just as happened while Carter was POTUS. Reagan led the Republicans back to the Right, after they had drifted alongside the Dems. I think most of the "moderate" leadership of the Reps will be swept aside, and someone will step up to be the next true conservative, as a backlash against the rapid moves to the Left that are being led by the Dems, and some Reps.

I don't think he will run, a) his wife is dead set against it, b)in 4 years he would be running agains who he endorsed and c) in 8 years he would be running against Michelle Obama - he wouldn't do that either.

Powell represents a significant part of the GOP. His views should be taken seriously if the GOP wants to be competitive in the next election. Dismissing him would further alienate the party!
