Iran and Neda

I realize there is already a thread about the "election" (or lack thereof) in Iran, but I sort of thought this poor girl 'Neda' needed to be commemorated in a separate thread.

If you have not heard or seen the story, it is simple, direct, and heartbreaking. I will NOT post the cell-phone video, or even post a link to it, because it is heart-breaking. If you have the stomach, you can see the raw footage on YouTube, and the somewhat sanitized (pixelated) footage on CNN. But she is a 26-year old girl. Absolutely beautiful young woman. Out on a Tehran street with her dad yesterday. Not even close to the most vocal protester. In fact, she is just walking non-chalantly with her dad among the protesters. Next bystander cell phone video shows her a few seconds later. She is lying on the concrete and bleeding out from multiple bullet holes as both her dad and a couple of good Samaratans are trying to plug up the streams of blood shooting from her throat. Her eyes go wide open and then not even 2 seconds later...she dies....right on camera....her beautiful, lifeless eyes are still wide open and "looking" straight....like 2 still black pearls....on a beautiful, silky smooth, young face...:(. Her young life snuffed out by Iranian Islamic Militia a$$wipes.

It is only human and optimistic to think her globally-transmitted death will not be in vain. But the reality is....it probably will be in vain. Because we are dealing with a twisted, sick government with a twisted, sick intepretation of the Koran. And pretty soon they'll have nukes to boot!

R.I.P. Neda...and R.I.P. the hundreds of other protesters brutalized and killed by the Mullah-Abdullah-Khomeini-Dick-wads......

All mosques were given a direct order from the government barring them from holding any memorial services for Neda, and her family was threatened with grave consequences if anyone gathered to mourn her, said Samsami.
Soltan's loved ones were outraged by the authorities' order not to eulogize her.
"They were threatened that if people wanted to gather there the family would be charged and punished," Samsami told FOXnews.com.

Persian folks (Iranians are not Arab as I'm sure you must know) are plenty tech-savvy and apparently lots of images and first-hand accounts are leaking illegally via Twitter, YouTube, e-mail, Skype, etc. I guess we can't get imagery like that from North Korea because cell phones are banned and even if they weren't banned, folks there can't afford a bowl of rice, let alone scrounge for a black-market Blackberry or iPhone. So North Korea is essentially a black hole.

This story just makes me sick to my stomach. These countries are governed by freaking cockroaches and barbarians. I hope the protestors just gain strength from this and find a way to come together and finally do something about this or it will never stop.

Since Neda, Iranian women stand up in defiance of Iranian rules.

My point was, this isn't direct news...it is video, blogs and twitter posts, not exactly reliable sources. I'm not saying it isn't accurate, just saying it isn't exactly vetted. Imagine a whole bunch of twitter posts about an Acorn rally being accepted as factual because of lack of media coverage....

StanF18 06-23-2009 05:27 PM

OK, I didn't understand which angle you were coming from initially....valid and shrewd point regarding vetting....

But looks like CNN, Fox, BBC, and all the major news outlets are running with it, so it must have been confirmed through multiple sources as the real deal.

Plus Obama commented on this incident directly, so his own 'sources' must have also confirmed it, or he'd wind up looking pretty silly if this turned out to be anything other than what it appears: a brutal Aytollah-sanctioned murder of a young Iranian civilian, caught on video for all to witness....:(:(

That's perfectly fine, just want to keep the fervor in check :)

Seems as though their culture/religion requires a different thought process for sure. I suppose if we lived there we would see things differently.
I agree It is difficult to understand but it is what it is and honestly I don't believe for a minute it's going to change any time soon.
