BP agrees 20 billion----
They better!
|
Wow, considering the valdez cost exxon approx 5 billion. I hope that is enough to have some effect on the devastation. Prolly not.:(
|
at least Obama has shut his big mouth now and not a minute too soon .
BP expects to set aside $40 billion . the same accident happened on a Mexican rig in 1979 , the same methods to stop the leak failed , only 2 relief wells stopped the leak after 9 months .:yikes: |
They made $20B in profit last year alone, it's a drop in the bucket to them. They should have been forced to allocate $40B.
|
see above edit to my post , I was editing whilst you were posting
oh and by the way , what makes you think you can FORCE them to allocate anything .get real . |
and how does this help? BP now gets to "write off" $20 billion and ends up not having to pay almost $8 billion in taxes. Oh, and BP is only coughing up $7 billion for this year, so they basically have a net gain of $1 billion. Yep! our politicians are really looking out for us.

Sellout. Reminds me of Union Carbide disaster compensation package of $470 mil for 3800 deaths

Good old corporate america. I think this country has gone well beyond Capitalism and now working on greed and selfishness.
