i think it sounds good, i know in europe they do it to the earlier models, pre 2004 and that brings them up like the post 2004,s, however from my limited research ( oh i have a 2005 3.0d sport) i suspect you will be asking to much of your drive line , especially the transmission if you go down the chip path.
i suspect its ok for a newish car when everything is in top condition, but i suspect the second owner will pay. it seems also that the X5,s delivered to NZ have a higher output than our Aussie cars, as they dont have the heat to contend with as we do. my thoughts are if you can afford some costly breakeges then go for it, otherwise enjoy it for what it is if you do choose to get your car chipped keep us posted on your experience please Ewen |

What market-specific differences that exist are generally due to diesel fuel standards.

Ive had my 2005 3.0d remaped (ecu tune ) it went from 160kw & 500nm to 193kw & 580nm best thing Ive done to date also I modified the tail pipes & did away with the
bends I have twin pipes straight out of the mufflers, soot issue no worse, engine felt freed up. City Performance Centre in Sydney did the remap for $1735.00 same day service. There may be some merit in the drive train however the auto transmission people I spoke to said the same ZF transmissinn is used in even more powerful vehicles Falcon GT etc, hope this helps. |

My owners hand book in the engine data section says 160Kw & 500Nm which was confirmed by City Performance prior to the remap they said the 3.0d prior to mine
was as as you stated 150kw etc, either way I'm happy with the decision. |
