Ordered a X5 M 50d - May Production

Just ordered a new X5 M 50d with the same options as my current X5 M 3.5d.

Should arrive late June or July

Nice, white I hope! I'm thinking of an X6M next time round, difficult choice with the engines for me as I don't do enough ks for fuel to be an issue. I still lean toward the diesel but love the sound of the V8, the X6 I drove was a 35d and standing next to it with the engine running just killed the effect of the sporty appearance. A stage #2 tune (remap) with a 40d engine takes it to 280Kw / 720Nm it will be interesting to see what the guys at Evolve come up with with the 50d powerplant. Enjoy.

With the 50d a t 754nm I don't think it really needs to be re-chiped.

5.4 sec to 100kph for a 4x4 I think is quick enough, I am interested to see if they have put larger rotors & brakes on it to pull it up?

My order for the BMW X5 M50d has been confirmed and set down for May production. Ended up that the extra options came to $29k making the X5 retail cost with towbar just on $190,000 delivered.

That's about $13k more than my last one, considering the AUD is higher than the US dollar and when I bought my last M-Sport X5 the dollar was only around $0.86 cents to the US dollar, they are not getting any cheaper.

That's about $100k more than a standard X5.

Looking at it closely I suppose I have spent about an extra $8k on some options like going to the High End Audio System over the HiFi System Professional option, DAB Radio, Side View and the Active Cruise with collision warning etc.

Although I did not have to purchase this time the Third Row Seats which is a saving but that gets offset because you get the 4 Zone Air-con, so one offsets the other.

You do get Paddle Shift's and the SPORTS 8 Speed Gearbox, not the standard 8 Gearbox and you get a M button on the Steering Wheel. Looks like the have dropped the SS Pedal Box, so I will need to buy that thru Spare Parts again, there was talk it would come standard on the M50d.

You also get M lettering on the door sills and M50d signage on the intrument cluster, gear shift, steering wheel

LCT is the biggest load of shit... I mean you buy a $1M property and you only have to hand over $40k~ to the govt.

Anyhow.. good stuff, I'm very keen to hear your feedback on this new Tri Turbo power-plant I recently went down to Porsche and tested the waters on the Cayenne Diesel.. not too bad for the $$ but part of me said wait out on BMW to release this X5M 50d (and the next gen x5)

Yeah, the new X5 is due around 2014, but I need to change over now. I bought the first release E70 but should have waited 12 months, which I will do this time. They are going to release a X5 Hybrid which should show up around 2015.

They say the new X5 will be lighter but only a faction larger, there is rumours that a X7 is coming also?

No way I'd re-chip this baby either.

Also sure if will have more than sufficient brakes, as per the X5M.

I have checked and the brakes are larger than the ones on the current X5 V8, they have actually used the brakes off the X6 V8 Hybrid that is sold in the US.

So I have ordered another set of Ceramic pads (the same as on my current X5) and also ordered another set of 5mm offset frontend bushes (again the same as on my current X5? with a 70% compound filling.

Production is set down for mid May, with arrival in July.

With the Federal budget coming out in a couple weeks there might be a reduction in the LCT tax since the car industry is suffering a little.
