Alpine diesel fuel + antifreeze coolant

Hi All

Planning our snow trip this month, is it really necessary to fill up with alpine diesel or winter mix diesel to stop the fuel system waxing up?

Does anyone know whether the BMW OEM coolant contains antifreeze agent?

Thanks for your help

Cheers
Leon

You should be ok for anitfreeze. Alpine distillate is a good idea. A very cold winter we are having. Just a matter of judgement - how much fuel to buy in the city before leaving so you get a good volume of the alpine stuff in. The extra cost (compared to city prices) is worth it to avoid any issues IMO.

Thanks. Does the alpine diesel fuel mix affect the performance of the diesel engine at all?

in Siberia the russians start the tractors and other diesel fueled vehicles sometime in September and run the engines non-stop until sometime in March - if they stop the engines in the middle of -40 - -60 degrees Celcius winter, those engines will not restart...

but, i did not know about agents to prevent fuel from jellying up...

Two choices. Buy alpine distillate at inflated prices near the snow or you can buy additives at approx. $15 per small bottle per tank.
I have not yet worked out which is lower in price although I suspect buying alpine variant near the snow cheaper.
