Parts from USA??

Anyone got any advice in relation to purchasing parts from the US??

I've stumbled onto BMW of South Atlanta's website and they will ship parts to Australia apparently.........

The prices are less than a third than we pay here from a BMW Stealership and it appears you could just about build a whole car from their catalogue. (Appears to be exactly the same as ReamOEM.com.

Anyway, don't want to go sending a bucket load of money off shore if there is not going to be a return package with the correct parts etc!!

Anyone happy to comment??

Cheers,

Phil

I've mentioned more than a few times in this forum to talk to Cliff at Part Agents in QLD. He will source any part (if he doesnt have it) and only gets OEM. I buy from him and it is as cheap or cheaper than getting in from the US, plus your money stays in the country (yes, usually 1/2 of what BMW charge for the same part).

No, i dont have anything to do with them, except I buy my parts and he has helped me source some hard to get parts previously.

He's pretty good (best to call him though on the mobile on his website).. You can always talk Turkey once you get the prices if the US are cheaper. My first dealings with him I had to get a Transfer Case Actuator (which he had in stock). He wanted $880 roughly for it, BMW wanted $2200. Exactly the same OEM part.

I have used getBMWparts.com a few times with good success, they are also thorough about supplying you the correct parts and run your VIN # against your order to ensure your getting the correct parts.

I did hear though that they are stopping shipments to O.S. because it breaks BMW policy or some shit like that? Not sure how true that is.

If you can get local supplier to be just as competitive then why stuff around I guess? Go local.

Was it only the gear inside that was damaged as I recently purchased the gear from Speedometer gears in the USA and it cost roughly $150 Aus for the part and freight.

Yes it is true unfortunately. I purchased a bit of gear from Silver Spring and now the only option for outside of USA sales is to arrange a pick up from their counter, which means having someone in the US to be the go between. It is easier to call Cliff. Cheers Dan.
