best oil 54 diesel x5

hi need to top up the oil on the car whats the best oil to put in it. also how much oil should it go through

I use Mobil 1 for Turbo Diesel.
It conforms to BMW longlife.

Have used this in my 525 tds for the last 6 years (done 6 changes) and also in the X.

Mine doesn't use very much oi at all, in fact it has got me a little concerned as the level hasn't changed in 5 months!!

Takes about 7 litres to fill
