I just tried again with a big air compressor and a Nitrocat 1200 impact wrench. I could not get the bearing to move at all even with heat and full torque. I was bending my breaker bar by the end and...

Maybe this is an...

I used the bearing press tool, but IMO it seemed to take a very high amount of force to get it in. It didn't break the tool but it ruined the forcing screw. Sounds like using a real press is the way...

Would you trust this spring compressor for changing an X5 strut?

I bought this tool awhile ago in 2017 and it's worked great for a variety of other vehicles, but I'm guessing the X5 spring force is higher than anything I've changed previously. Would you trust it?...

Replacing front wheel bearings

I already replaced these once about 4,000 miles ago preventatively and unfortunately the RF bearing is making noise. I got the front end apart yesterday and can feel play in the RF bearing so it is...

Maybe it's an invisible hairline crack in that nipple? There is a faint line at the base of the nipple but it's hard to tell if it's cracked. I tried a smoke test and didn't see any leaks.

Pretty sure I located the culprit. There was liquid fuel on top of the driver's side sender, under the rear seat. Something is up with the hose that is preventing it from sealing. I tried new clamps...

That's still 4.77 lbs of force when pressurized. I wouldn't be comfortable with that personally without some other retention mechanism.

I'm curious if it holds up. 5.5 lbs of force isn't really that much when the cooling system holds 30 psi. That plug is probably like 1 square inch? That's 30 lbs of force.

Again, as someone who just went thru the same thing, those plugs need to to hold coolant. IMO it was not a trivial task to plug them in a reliable way.

I would not trust JB weld for this. After a bunch of thermal cycles, that plug will probably fall out and you'll lose all of your coolant.

Yeah it's interesting too because I had run a bunch of injector cleaner thru the system prior to this, so I suppose there's a limit to what they can do. Like three cans of BG44k.
