In my experience, with an older battery 40 degrees is enough to have an effect.

You can also see if a pep boys, or Batteries Plus type place can test your charging system and your battery.

Are the amps for your subs still in the car? If the were not hooked up properly they could be putting a small but continuous draw on the battery.

There is definitely a correlation between cost...

There is definitely a correlation between cost and quality. Even at a similar price BMW does give you much more content that you see (gadgets and features), and maybe not quite as much in places...
