Some places do it for $80 - 4 wheel alignment. Shop around.

Only thing I've heard of is straightening a steering wheel...

Personally, I see the IL issue as an inconvenience. Turn off, restart and it's alright. Otherwise, wait until the car warms up a bit.

Unintended acceleration is in a different league, IMO.

the adaptive feature didn't work (left/right) when turning the steering wheel

self-leveling (up/down) worked - whenever you turn it on, it went through it's up/down sequence check.

Update: After DME resets and harness replacements this time around...

Scoring was found on the eccentric shafts. Both the shafts and levers were replaced on the vehicle. Startup had no problems...
