I have unplugged my sidelights and tapped into the wiring harness so now when I switch on my sidelights from the dial in the dash the angel eyes come on instead.

Knocking noise still there round 2!

After changing the sway bar link and lower control arm it was suggested the noise may be coming from a worn tie rod here

I took the steering wheel lock off and moved the steering wheel left & right and the EXACT same noise happened - You da man!

Cant believe someone diagnosed this remotely...

It also knocks at 75% lock and 50% lock, basically it does it at low speeds but also at higher speeds when I go over a bump etc

Its doing my head in and no one can diagnose it!

I know there was a problem with the earlier ones...

I know there was a problem with the earlier ones and BMW changed them on later models - so BMW are aware there is a known problem with them

Hi All,

On my 2001 X5 when I take turn the ignition off the air con fan for the footwell remains on, it did this last night and I had to jump start the car this morning as the battery had gone...

Well picked up the X5 today, on the test drive I had noticed the 'Clunk' which I recognised as control arm/ball joint issue after reading up on this...
