Had the same problem with my X5. When I took it in for service back in June dealer found same TSB article and while article said software fix was not available till Sept 07, they had the fix already...

Having same problem in my X5, with the unit either freezing (no response, cannot eject DVD) when you first turn it on, or turning off in the middle of a movie. Had the car in for service last week...

Heated Seat Problem
Brought the new X5 in for service on Tuesday to fix an inoperative passenger seat heater. Figure this would be a simple thing of swapping out a module or switch. So far it’s been in for two days...
