Update: I found a transmission shop nearby...

Update:

I found a transmission shop nearby that only does rebuilds and is a member of ATRA, so I can take my X5 there for a free estimate, will head there sometime this week and see what they find...

Lots of miles for 2001, I'd keep looking for something else with lower miles, your gas mileage on...
