Another thing you can do is remove the alternator...

Another thing you can do is remove the alternator and it has a serial number..or call BMW and give them your VIN number and have them tell you if you need a 90 or 120 amp alty. seems like it make...

I need to change mine too. Ive been getting alot of electrical issues including the trans fail safe program, and was told I need a 150 amp alternator, and that the 3.0 uses the 120 amp. i havent seen...

Well Im a go ahead and try to do it myself this Saturday and I will post pictures.:thumbup: It turns out the transfail safe program and electrical issues ive been having is caused by a faulty...

It seems to be the battery, I have tested the alternator and its charging the battery, but when the jumper cables are removed from the car, the battery wont hold its charge at 12 volts it quickly...
