running board install
i got the right rivet gun - it is the green on napaonline.com which says it is for plastic rivets.
i have a problem with the expanding rivet ---it does not fit the gun---are u supposed to hammer...

headlight housing color
hey i have seen this done on the e46fanatics.com website. someguy bought the aluminum hi-temp paintwork and painted it. he had no problems whatsoever with the painwork. it looks damn good man.

amber- clarification
everyone talks about the 'older' x5s (pre2003) being ok to bake and then take out the amber portion. this sounds very do-able.
the only uncertainty for me what do they mean when say 2003 model..does...

the ractive tips seem to be 2.5 inch internal diam
i measured my 3.0 X5 and the diameter is about 2.75 inches--this was the factory exhaust
