What color was the smoke and what did it smell like (oil, anti-freeze)? Could you tell what section of the engine bay it was coming from?

The truck was originally purchased in June of '03...

The truck was originally purchased in June of '03 so that's why my warranty expires in June. I believe I am the third owner but according to the BMW website under the warranty section it transfers...

Thanks for yoyr thoughts. It didn't disappear in manual it just wasn't present in first or second. It came back when I shifted to third in manual. My X5 has 84k miles.
