1. Turning car off
2. Taking out fuses for Instrument Cluster - they were 1, 43, 45
3. Turning ignition to position 2. You can try and crank it, but mine wouldn't turn over....

This is what I did on my 03' 4.0. I drill a few very small holes on the the plastic lens and on the outside egde on the A/E rings. Basicaly 2 holes at the top left (11 O'clock), 2 holes at the top...
