Sounds like effects of water damage, remove the radio unit's top lit and take a peek inside. Traces of the corrosive damaged done by water in live systems are easily visible.

Your Mk2 seems to have a disc drive fault which will deactive GPS (no map). If the Mk2 is hardware version 20 or above, it will have the same type of cd rom drive as a mk3. So that way it should be...

This is a form of dead pixel. It's UV damaged liquid crystal fluid that can't polarise light anymore. This sort of defect has a habit of spreading in random directions and can pop up on other parts...
