That's what i'm thinking is there a specific control module for the central locking system ? Anybody know where it's located i must ad that i have checked fuse Numbers 20 24 60 and they are all good.

Thank's for the reply but if the acuators were faulty would the door pin still rise and fall as normal ? Also it must be one hell of a coincidence for them both to fail at the same time surely ?

Hi i have 2001 X5 4.4i sport which has developed a serious problem with the central locking system.

Both of the front doors will not open with the remote although it unlocks both of the rear doors...

The vibration increased with the rev's and was so bad i thought it was a propshaft or transmission problem. Then all of a sudden during said vibration at highish rev's the fan blades shattered...

Mate i would bet my bottom dollar on it being the bearing in the viscous fan coupling breaking down causing the vibration.

I have slippage in reverse at the moment any thoughts on the cause ? otherwise the box perform's perfectly and i had the ATF changed 20000 miles ago as a precaution!!
