I assume they replaced them early on because of brake dust. That seems to be the driving factor for a lot of people.

I did check the records. Nothing on the official record. It was done privately....

Update. I found out that there are 3 different transfer cases in the 2013 E70 X5 series. 1 of the 3 (45L) only has a fill plug and the other 2 have both drain/fill plugs. Moral of the story, find out...

coming from E53 3.0, how is E70 reliability?

Have 115k on my E53 X5 3.0 and am starting to get into the famous E53 quirky troubles. Do the X35's have the same hpfp issues as the 335 etc

I disagree. If CCV is working, there should not be any Mayo under the fill cap. I had the mayo until I replaced the CCV, now nothing, and no oil consumption either!

OK, So I changed my Diffs with Redline MT-90 (75-90W GL-4) gear oil as recommended by ECS Tuning.

After the fact, I then read on Redline's web site that it is not recomended for Hyphoid Gears...

Could this be a sign that the CCV(oil separator) needs replaced? I have never noticed white froth before. Car is 2006 3.0 with 93K miles. I have been changing the oil myself and have never had any...
