Did the reading up and same thing - had the old type of filter, toilet roll shape - mine is a 2004...

funny...it ran perfectly and then the indy changed went to update software but it stuffed up and threw the trans failsafe prog on permanently...

Indy has drained the oil - doesn't believe it's burnt and there was no stringy material/residue as advised by the BMW workshop. He said the oil was old was in the condition he would expect...
