You will require the console eject box as well as the snap in adapter for the iPhone. So far each version of the iPhone has required it's own snap in adapter. So odds are good when the iPhone5 comes...

The current snap in adapter for the 3Gs is the 682. The 683 adapter is NLA. An interesting fact (generalized statement here) on this is that the iPhone adapters that ended in a 2 were for charge...

I have not done one yet for an e53. Just e38 and e46. But console eject box is the same for the e46, e38, e39, e53 and e84/85. So the mod is the same for all of those models. Machine down the side...

I made a jig to hold the top of the eject box...

I made a jig to hold the top of the eject box (fingers out of harms way) and used a flush trim bit with an oversized bearing in the shaper table to remove about a 1/16th of an inch of material.

Installing the unit in friends car next week, so I can give you a definite answer then. But the iPhone snap in adapter does have a connection for the iPhone at the bottom that the iPhone plugs...

Have modified the adapter, but I do not have a V3x to test with. I also wonder if the V3x will fit in the adapter correctly as it does differ in size from the V3. See post 48 for measurements.

Flipping the USB port on a Razr Adapter

In completely taking apart and 'cutting' up a razr snap in adapter, it is possible to invert the USB miniport. Now, whether or not the charging feature still works has yet to be determined.

Just a couple of comments regarding the adapter mods.
-the part number listed in the PDF is for the console eject box
-the part number for the razr adpater is 84 21 0 415 023

The mods mentioned to fit the razr adapter apply to the console eject box that is used in the e38, e39, e46 and the e53 bluetooth conversion. Currently there is about 30 of the razr adapters...
